Depths

Flooded sewers full of rats, butchers and basilisks. The Gaping Dragon waits at the bottom and holds the key to Blighttown.

Bosses

  • Gaping Dragon: Slow but hits hard; strike its legs and stay away from its charge. Cut the tail for the Dragon King Greataxe.

  • Greataxe: In a crate past the rats near the Depths bonfire; also sold by the Crestfallen Merchant.
  • Dragon King Greataxe: Cut off the Gaping Dragon's tail during the fight in the Depths.
  • Heavy Crossbow: In the area just before the Gaping Dragon in the Depths.
  • Standard Helm: Warrior starting gear; on a corpse inside the Gaping Dragon's arena.
  • Hard Leather Armor: Warrior starting gear; on a corpse inside the Gaping Dragon's arena.
  • Hard Leather Gauntlets: Warrior starting gear; on a corpse inside the Gaping Dragon's arena.
  • Hard Leather Boots: Warrior starting gear; on a corpse inside the Gaping Dragon's arena.
  • Sack: Dropped by the Butcher in the Depths kitchen.
  • Ring of the Evil Eye: In the basilisk area of the Depths.
  • Joy: Learned from Domhnall of Zena. Most classes already know it.
  • Sewer Chamber Key: On a corpse in the Giant Rat room of the Depths.
  • Blighttown Key: Dropped by the Gaping Dragon.
  • Large Ember: In a chest behind the first Butcher in the Depths kitchen.

Walkthrough: Depths

  • Kill the first Butcher and open the chest for the Large Ember.
  • Roll into the barrels in the kitchen to free Laurentius of the Great Swamp, then talk to him.
  • Kill the second Butcher.
  • Look up before grabbing the first soul in the corridor: a slime hangs from the ceiling.
  • Light the Depths bonfire.
  • A hole behind the butcher's table drops to a rat den: the Spider Shield, a Giant Rat guarding the Sewer Chamber Key, and a soul.
  • A Channeler haunts the upper floor; after it dies, take the Large Titanite Shard and the Greataxe.
  • Slide or drop down to the lower sewers, staying away from the Basilisks' curse clouds.
  • Down on the lowest floor are the Ring of the Evil Eye and a Humanity.
  • Open the shortcut back to the bonfire and restore your humanity there if needed.
  • As a human, wait for Knight Kirk to invade and defeat him.
  • On the path to the boss you will find the Heavy Crossbow and some bolts.
  • Defeat the Gaping Dragon to get the Blighttown Key.
  • Solaire of Astora can be summoned just above the fog gate.
  • Lautrec's summon sign is on the other side of the pillar from Solaire's.
  • Cut off the dragon's tail during the fight for the Dragon King Greataxe.
  • After the fight, pick up the Warrior Set in the arena.
  • Optional co-op around levels 25–35.
  • Talk to Domhnall of Zena by the exit to learn the Joy gesture and buy armor or arrows.
  • The swamp ahead poisons you constantly. The Undead Merchant (Female) sells cures: get Blooming Purple Moss Clumps for toxin and Purple Moss Clumps for poison.
  • Unlock the door to Blighttown with the Blighttown Key and climb down.
